Punball · systems design · cabinet 09
The document for this cabinet is not written yet. Here is the question its design pass has to answer.
The open question
Turn-based tactics is chess with dice. How much randomness can a board game absorb before planning stops mattering?
Every cabinet gets one of these eventually — the mechanics, the constants, and what turned out to be wrong the first time. Publishing the question first is a commitment to answering it rather than quietly dropping it.
The cabinet itself is playable now: play Ringward.
Meanwhile
Pencil and d20 covers Graph Paper Dungeon in full: the energy scheduler that replaced lockstep turns, the half-rate coefficient that keeps three classes in the same game, and the balance audit that took the spread between them from 3.47× down to 1.22×.
